A delegation of the Tunisair company was received on 7 April 2022 by the Director General of the CCAA with a view to opening an air route between Tunis and Douala.
The delegation of officials from Tunisair was accompanied by the representative of the Tunisian Embassy in Yaounde during the working session which was held at the CCAA headquarters in Yaounde.
Led by the Vice President of Tunisair, Mr. Helmi HASSINE, assisted by the Africa and Middle East Manager, Mr. Nizar CHAOUALI, the Tunisian delegation came to discuss with the Director General of the CCAA the contours inherent to the opening of a line between Tunis and Douala.
For the record, Cameroon and Tunisia are linked by an air agreement signed on 10 May 2006 in Yaounde. And, on 6 March 2017, the competent Tunisian authorities, through diplomatic channels, designated the Tunisair company to operate scheduled air services between Tunisia and Cameroon.
After receiving the said designation, the Director General contacted the Director of this company to invite him to submit to the CCAA a technical file for the possible issuance of an operating licence.
During the hearing of April 7, 2022, the Tunisian delegation reaffirmed the determination of their country's authorities to do everything possible for the effective start of operations to/from Cameroon. For its part, the CCAA reiterated its availability to proceed, once Tunisair has transmitted its technical file, to its instruction in accordance with the regulations in force. The ball is therefore in the court of Tunisair.
