Follow-up and Steering Committee meeting of the TSDP - Air Component

Members of the said committee met at the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport on November 15, 2022, during the 16th session to assess the state of execution of the project and the physical presentation of the activities carried out on the ground.
During the meeting, a mid-term evaluation of all the projects of the TSDP - Air Component as of 30 September 2022 was made available to the members.
Thus, among the contracts completed and handed over, we can note, in Yaounde, the 14.36-kilometer Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport bypass road, with the destruction and reconstruction of houses in the framework of the implementation of the summary resettlement plan (SRP) The construction of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) of the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport, consisting of a GFL +3 building with a basement, built on a surface of 1,796 m2, the asphalting of the patrol road and the rehabilitation of the security fence around the said airport.
The work in progress concerns the construction site of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) of Maroua, which is a two-story building, built on an area of 2 hectares. This work is at 85% and should be completed by the first quarter of 2023,
The construction site of Garoua’s EOC is at 79%, and the end of the work is also planned for the first quarter of 2023. 
The construction of classrooms, comfort stations, boreholes, rehabilitation of health centers, and supply of white tables, desks, and chairs, are among the socio-communal infrastructure works carried out for the benefit of the populations living in the vicinity of Yaounde-Nsimalen, Douala, Garoua and Maroua airports. 
It should be noted that all these works were carried out within the framework of a financing agreement of 30 billion FCFA from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) granted to the State of Cameroon and retroceded to the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), the Executing Agency of the Air Component of the Transport Sector Development Project (TSDP). The Director General of the CCAA is the contracting authority for the works.
The objective of all these works is to strengthen safety and security in the 4 selected international airports in Cameroon (Douala; Yaounde; Garoua and Maroua), to achieve the objectives of complying with the international safety and security standards enacted by the ICAO, and to enhance the capacities of the CCAA in the planning, development, and management of air transport.
In the future, work on the development of the patrol road and the reinforcement of the security fence at Douala International Airport and the security fence at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport, etc. will be carried out.
