The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) in collaboration with the Singapore Civil Aviation Authority (CAAS) and the African Civil Aviation Commission (CAFAC) organized the 17th on-site training on this topic as part of the CAAS-CAFAC Memorandum of Understanding from July 29 to August 2, 2019 at the CCAA Training School in Yaounde.

During these three days, participants were required to master the principles and concepts of safety management, and apply the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARP) of ICAO’s annex 19, which contains essential provisions applicable to safety management functions that directly affect or support the safety of aircraft operations. It also highlighted the importance of national safety management in the various aviation sectors. The courses were in the form of lectures, questionnaires and group exercises.

31 participants from 06 African countries, namely Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Rwanda, Togo and Uganda, took part in the training. Three regional organizations (ASECNA, BAGASOO and CASSOA) were also present.

The courses were taught by Mr. Teo Gim Thong, Senior Training Specialist of the Singapore Aviation Academy. In addition to this on-site training, a gathering of South African Airway (SAA) alumni was held on July 30 2019.
