 As part of the external control of the execution of public contracts, the Minister of Public Contracts, Mr. IBRAHIM TALBA MALLA, together with his closest collaborators toured these buildings under construction on the Yaounde-Nsimalen airport platform.

During this visit, which was also attended by the Governor's representative of the Centre Region, the Senior Divisional Officer of Mefou Afamba and the entire project team (Engineer, Project Manager and Company), the Chief of Service for contracts presented the four (04) phases of this major project, in the presence of the Director General of the CCAA (Project Owner); this project covers 14 hectares of the Yaounde-Nsimalen airport area.

The various phases are as follows:

  • Phase 1 (in progress): Training Centre and Air Search and Rescue Centre;
  • Phase 2: 4-star hotel;
  • Phase 3: sports complex with training fields and an Olympic swimming pool;
  • Phase 4: CCAA headquarters building.

After this general presentation on a map, the Head of the Control Mission led the delegation to the two buildings under construction, where the different rooms, the roads and the various networks (VRD) could be appreciated.

At this stage, the shells have been completed in the two buildings, and the other works are in progress, with a rate of more than 70% for the floor and wall coverings, the external aluminium joinery, the railings and the false ceilings. This leads to a global progress rate of 70.63% for 97.58% of time consumption.

This gap can be considerably reduced by completing some important decoration work being carried out by the company, including: the VRD of the Training Center, the installation of aluminum doors and windows, curtain walls and skydome, the installation of wooden doors, sanitary facilities, RIA, false ceilings in Placoplatre, tiles on the floors and walls, paving stones, metal fire doors, painting and topsoil for the green areas.

Following the debriefing session, the Minister of Public Contracts congratulated the Director General, Project Owner, for the progress of work and the tremendous efforts made so far.

In addition, the company was urged to keep on stepping up its efforts in order to complete the project on time, and to use the materials and equipment already delivered to the site.

The project owner was also urged to take good stock of the remaining equipment to be delivered under the second amendment (air conditioning, lamps, pumps, video surveillance, access control, security lighting, fire detection, distribution boards, etc.), so that the site can be completed as soon as possible and give a new impetus to the airport platform.
