This was withn the framework of a workshop organised from 04 to 05 November 2021, at the CCAA Training Centre at the Douala International Airport.
It was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Transport (MINT), Public Health (MINSANTE), External Relations (MINREX), the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA), the Cameroon Airport company (ADC), Airlines serving Cameroon and Administrations present on the Douala and Yaoundé-Nsimalen airport platforms (Police, Customs, Gendarmerie, ASU, phytosanitary Services,... ).

The purpose of organising such a RETEX was to measure any gaps between reality and expectations, particularly with regard to the strategies, plans, procedures, actions and response capacities implemented in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the civil aviation sector in Cameroon.
The holding of this RETEX is also in line with a logic of continuous improvement of the management of current events. The aim is to draw lessons from the management of the health crisis in order to correct the negative elements and to improve practices, mechanisms, sectoral and multisectoral operating modes, communication and decision-making processes.
The overall analysis shared by the sector's actors made it possible to identify the elements to be capitalised on or reinforced, as well as the difficulties encountered, and recommendations were formulated.

These recommendations will be integrated into an action plan aimed at reducing public health risks, with the aim of adapting the sectoral and/or collective response to the current crisis and to future health emergencies in the aviation sector.
This will include updating health measures to respond effectively to the evolving Covid-19 pandemic and restoring public and traveller confidence for a sustainable recovery in air transport.
