First Ordinary Session of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (NCASC)
Published: Thursday, 07 September 2023 00:13
The meeting was chaired on September 6, 2023, by Mr. NJOYA ZAKARIAOU, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Transport, in the presence of the administrations concerned with the safety and security of our airports.

This meeting took place as Cameroon gets ready to host an ICAO safety audit mission in October. The meeting is being held in the context of significant changes, including improvements to standard operating procedures at international airports, a revision of the regulatory framework for civil aviation security, and the hiring of 105 Airport Security Officers by the CCAA to work at airport platforms.
At the meeting, the committee reviewed the security situation at airports, threat assessment, and preparations for the October security audit in Cameroon.
During his speech, the Minister Delegate, who represented the Minister of Transport, the chairman of the committee, encouraged those responsible for implementing civil aviation security to strive for greater efficiency. He urged them to invest heavily in finding solutions that would enhance our security system and to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Cameroon's skies. The ICAO expects an implementation score of 80% for the crucial elements of Cameroon's national security oversight system.
It should be noted that significant progress has been made in the security system. However, those involved have been urged to take responsibility for fostering a culture of security in the run-up to the upcoming audit. The audit will assess the security system in place, including our ability to oversee security measures and adhere to national standards and recommended practices.
After the presentations and the clarifications given on certain aspects by Mrs AVOMO ASSOUMOU Paule, KOKI, Director General of the CCAA and her collaborators, all experts in civil aviation security, fruitful exchanges took place between the members of the NCASC. In the end, a number of recommendations were made that will undoubtedly help to reassure air travellers to Cameroon.
