Air Transport: service quality for users under review in Douala
The 13th Forum on Air Transport Service Quality officially opened on October 27, 2026, at the CCAA Training Centre in Douala, bringing together leading stakeholders from Cameroon’s aviation industry. The event was opened on behalf of the Director General by Mr Ritzentelar Chinanga Akkum, Head of the Air Transport Division. Over the next four days, participants will examine strategies to enhance passenger comfort, strengthen safety standards, and improve customer satisfaction across the air transport value chain.

The proceedings of the 13th edition began with a solemn minute of silence in memory of members of the aviation community who have passed away in recent months, setting a reflective tone for the forum, which is being hosted at the CCAA Training Centre in Douala, a recognised centre of excellence, until October 30, 2026.
The event has brought together leading stakeholders from across the aviation ecosystem, including representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Airports of Cameroon (ADC), ASECNA, airlines, and partner agencies such as the Border Police, Customs, Health Services, and the Gendarmerie. Their participation underscores the importance of this consultation platform as a catalyst for collaboration, policy dialogue, and continuous improvement in the delivery of air transport services.

In his opening address, the representative of the Director General of the CCAA emphasized that the discussions should lead to outcomes that will enhance the passenger journey, improve assistance for persons with reduced mobility (PRMs), clarify obligations regarding passenger assistance in cases of delays or cancellations, and strengthen transparency in the handling of complaints. Above all, he stressed that the forum should contribute to the ongoing modernization of Cameroon’s aviation sector.
It is worth noting that this consultation framework has already delivered significant strategic achievements, including the successful organization of the 12th CAPSCA Meeting on public health emergencies, the national consultation on the Advance Passenger Information/Passenger Name Record (API/PNR) system, the approval of flight schedules for the 2026-2027 Winter Season, and the effective implementation of the National Air Transport Facilitation Programme (PNFTA).
Over the next four days of intensive deliberations, experts and stakeholders operating within the airport platform are expected to demonstrate rigour, openness, and a spirit of innovation during the workshops. In practice, service quality is measured through key indicators such as flight punctuality, reduced waiting times at checkpoints, proper baggage handling, and the courtesy and professionalism extended to passengers.
Through this forum, the CCAA reaffirms its commitment to transforming every national airport platform into a benchmark of excellence, where outstanding service quality remains a defining signature of Cameroon’s aviation sector.
