Release of the CCAA 2024 Air Transport Statistical Bulletin: Sustained Growth and Resilience Beyond Pre-Pandemic Levels
The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) is pleased to publish its 2024 Statistical Bulletin, offering an in-depth analysis of air traffic performance, airport operations, and airline activity across Cameroon.
In 2024, Cameroon’s air transport sector demonstrated remarkable resilience and growth, driven by strategic infrastructure investments and enhanced security oversight. Total passenger traffic reached 2,146,134 passengers, representing a 3.85% year-on-year increase over 2023 and a 14.72% surge compared to pre-COVID 2019 levels. This strong performance was largely propelled by international passenger traffic, which grew by 6.28% to reach 1,497,425 passengers.
Key highlights from the 2024 Bulletin include:
Aircraft Movements: A total of 36,589 aircraft movements were recorded across all operational airfields, averaging approximately 100 movements per day.
Freight & Mail: 20,329.03 tonnes of cargo handled, with international corridors representing over 96% of the overall volume.
Airport Performance: Douala International Airport maintained its position as the primary hub handling 53.94% of overall passenger traffic, followed by Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport with 38.38%.
As we continue to strengthen safety, security, and tariff transparency across our airport platforms, this publication serves as an essential tool for investors, operators, policy makers, and the general public.
