The Director General of the CCAA opened the training workshop organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on November 9, 2020 at the CCAA Security Training Center in Douala.

This ICAO training workshop for Airport Security Supervisors, welcomes 12 participants, including 8 Airport Security Officers (ASO) and 4 AVSEC officers from Yaounde and Douala International Airports and, it is led by two (02) ICAO designated instructors from the CCAA.

Ultimately, the learners will have the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the many important security countermeasures and thus ensure the effective application of their collaborator in the field.

Clearly, by the end of this training, learners will be able to oversee the implementation of the security tasks of the units under their responsibility and contribute to the safety and security of passengers, crews, ground staff and the public.

The different modules in the program will equip the participants to oversee the implementation of aspects of the airport security program, ensure screening and search of passengers and baggage as well as all other security procedures. The supervisors will also be better equipped to organize first response actions to security emergencies or threats, apply management principles and practices, motivate and communicate, ensure the application of standard operating procedures, plan and supervise the duties of airport security staff, evaluate performance and mentor other staff on the job.

It should be noted that this training is part of the partnership between ICAO and its certified training centers. Indeed, each year ICAO certified school must provide training with a corresponding regional vocation. Unfortunately, the Douala edition was limited to nationals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a reminder, the CCAA Training School’s courses are designed and delivered according to the competency-based methodology. It is a center of excellence in the sub region and holds the status of associate member of the Trainair plus Program. This following its certification by ICAO during the 40th General Assembly, which took place from September 24 to October 4, 2019.
