Fifteen Cameroonian trainees have benefited from a training session for National AVSEC inspectors from July 25 to August 02, 2022 at the CCAA Training School (EFO) in Yaoundé.
Conducted by two ICAO- mandated experts, it is a continuation of the activities of the i-pack project (assistance project that ICAO has offered to Cameroon) whose aim is to strengthen the operational capacities of supervision of the CCAA.
For seven days, the participants followed courses on the definitions and contents of the National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programme and studied the methodology and preparation of audits and/or inspection, audit, and inspection techniques.
In addition to this knowledge, the new participants will be able to successfully perform diverse tasks after this training, including;
- knowing the definition of audit, inspection, and safety test, and giving guidelines for a National Quality Control Programme
- describe the required skills and competencies of an AVSEC inspector
- demonstrate the ability of an inspector/auditor to conduct quality control activity and write audit/inspection reports;
- master the questioning techniques of an auditor;
- Describe the different stages of preparation for an audit/inspection;
- Identify the documents needed to prepare, conduct and document an inspection;
- Demonstrate their ability to conduct an opening meeting for an inspection;
- describe the importance, characteristics, and legal basis for conducting a safety test.
Cameroon is thus the first country in French-speaking Africa to benefit from the i-pack project, one of the outcomes of which was this training session. At the end of the training, the 15 trainees from the CCAA and partner administrations expressed satisfaction with the lessons received.
It is worth noting that the two ICAO-certified instructors who conducted this session were the Togolese-born ADONGO KOMLA, AVSEC expert for the Central/West Africa sub-region, and Mr. ENGOLO Alfred, certified instructor, ICAO expert for Cameroon.
