The continuous efforts undertaken by Cameroon to conform to civil aviation security standards have been recognized through the President's Certificate, which was presented to Ms. Paule ASSOUMOU KOKI, Director General of the CCAA, on behalf of Cameroon, on 23 September 2025 in Montreal, by the President of the ICAO Council, Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano.
This distinction is a testament to our country's unwavering commitment to guaranteeing the security and safety of its airspace and, by extension, the regulatory compliance of its system.

This "President’s Certificate of Recognition" in the field of security was awarded to Cameroon, Indonesia, Kuwait, Moldova, and Togo during the opening ceremony of the 42nd Assembly.

These certificates represent ICAO’s recognition of its Member States within the framework of supporting the Organization’s “No Country Left Behind” initiative. They commend States that have achieved significant progress in civil aviation security and safety, and for the improved and effective implementation of ICAO’s Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). In Cameroon’s case, this is the fruit of remarkable and multifaceted efforts undertaken to enhance aviation security, as well as all the transformations carried out to improve the effectiveness of its oversight system.

The latest audits and supervision missions conducted by ICAO enabled the measurement of efforts deployed by Cameroon towards the effective implementation of the Organization's Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

The scores obtained subsequently allowed Cameroon to be ranked in the leading group for security within the Central African sub-region and beyond its borders.

These evaluations also confirmed that the country is continuously strengthening its surveillance and security assurance mechanisms. All of which is attracting numerous airlines towards Cameroon as a destination, whose airspace is more than welcoming.

On the sidelines of the Assembly, Cameroon is also planning several bilateral meetings with other States and organizations to solidify technical and operational cooperation in the air sector.

These initiatives are part of a broader strategy: one of sustainable, safe, and globally compliant development, while aiming to establish Cameroon as a regional benchmark in aviation. This step forward is welcomed by all and is fully consistent with the innovative initiatives so highly championed by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, whose constant will is to always raise Cameroonian aviation to the highest international standards and norms and to make Cameroon's airspace one of the most connected. This commitment is a guarantee of our country's economic and social development.
