The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority ensures the implementation of civil aviation policy and regulation; air transport follow-up and development of airports, as well as civil aviation control, regulation, safety and security.
The main missions of the CCAA are as follows:
- Implementing national and community civil aviation policy;
- Participating in drafting legislative and regulatory texts on civil aviation;
- Developing and implementing national civil aviation safety and security programmes;
- Overseeing civil aviation safety and security in Cameroon;
- Economic supervision of all aviation activities;
- Organising and managing national airspace, in collaboration with relevant military authorities;
- Managing the aviation heritage;
- Planning airport development, in collaboration with other relevant administrative departments and bodies;
- Safe operation and development of non-concessioned aviation services and facilities;
- Implementing security measures on airports;
- Coordinating Search and Rescue service supply;
- Negotiating civil aviation agreements;
- Managing portfolio of civil aviation agreements signed by Cameroon
- Follow-up of ties with regional and international organisations
