Missions
The Operational Security Units are the sole coordinating bodies responsible for implementing all security measures at airports.
In this capacity, they are responsible for:
- Issuing operational civil aviation security guidelines to partner administrations (police, gendarmerie, customs) and airport security bodies;
- Receiving reports from the relevant government departments on airport security;
- Producing dashboards on the implementation of security measures at the airport;
- To prepare for and provide secretarial support to the Airport Security Committees (ASC);
- To ensure that the decisions and recommendations of the Airport Security Committees (ASC) are implemented;
- To implement civil aviation security controls.
Human resources
In order to accomplish their assigned missions, the Airport Security Units rely on the commitment of carefully selected men and women recruited through rigorous selection processes.
Material resources
The material resources of the Airport Security Units include a range of equipment, notably:
- Communications equipment;
- Patrol vehicles;
- Personnel transport vehicles;
- Video surveillance systems;
- Perimeter fencing;
- Tactical and infrared binoculars;
- Torches;
- Search gloves;
- Hygienic shoe covers;
- Chemicals for detecting traces of solid and liquid explosives, as well as drugs;
- X-ray scanners;
- Fixed metal detector gates;
- Mobile metal detectors;
