Environmental protection has become a major concern in international civil aviation due to engine noise, impacts on air quality and CO2 emissions, which affect global climate.
Cameroon has signed up to all ICAO initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.
- Action plan to reduce CO2 emissions through the implementation of certain measures such as:
- Improving the use of optimised flight levels
- Adopting more fuel-efficient approach and departure procedures
- Capping the age of aircraft
- Introducing cleaner energy sources
- Adopting the SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) initiative
