The Steering Committee for Major Works and Project Monitoring held its 4th ordinary session this Thursday, June 5, 2026, at the construction site in Nsimalen. The site displayed a satisfactory completion rate, marked by the completion of the structural works (shell) and the continuation of earthworks. The contractual delivery deadline for this infrastructure is set for July 2027.
The construction project for the future headquarters of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) has truly taken shape. This was the observation made by the members of the Steering Committee for Major Works and Project Monitoring, chaired by Dr. NGOLLE III Patrice Emmanuel, in the presence of Mrs. Paule ASSOUMOU KOKI, Director General of the CCAA, during its session held on-site to review the progress of this major project.
This working session allowed the technical team—consisting of experts from the Client/Project Owner (CCAA), the Ministry of Public Works, Cabinet GA2, Cabinet BISSEK, BCT HYDRAC, LABOGENIE, and the contractor BUNS—to present the progress of the structural and earthworks. The findings show that structural works are 95% complete, with their conclusion scheduled for the end of June 2026, while earthworks stand at a 65% execution rate and are slated for completion by the end of August 2026.
Additionally, Committee members addressed essential points regarding strict adherence to the schedule, organization, steering, and optimal coordination among the project’s various stakeholders.
In light of the slight delay recorded against the initial schedule, the Steering Committee (COPIL) members reviewed and approved an active strategy to catch up with contractual deadlines. This strategy relies notably on accelerating orders for secondary works (finishing) and technical packages, as well as reinforcing the contractor’s workforce on site. This ongoing pursuit of performance had already been demonstrated in December 2025 by a prospective mission of a working group, led by the COPIL Chairman, to China and Turkey, dedicated to the meticulous selection of certain materials and equipment for the project.
During the site visit, the Committee was also able to appreciate the actual start of the installation of Pouma stone on the main facade, as well as the general appearance of the site roads. At the end of this visit, the COPIL Chairman praised the leadership of the General Directorate as the Project Owner, the commitment of the teams responsible for technical monitoring, and the professionalism of the company in charge of constructing this edifice.
Launched on January 14, 2024, for a duration of 42 months, this major project is strategically located at the entrance to the Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport, adjacent to the Training School (EFO) and the Air Rescue and Coordination Centre (RCC).
Beyond its imposing stature, this structural project embodies the global managerial vision of the General Directorate, which aims to provide an optimal working environment for CCAA staff, while reaffirming the central and sovereign role of the Civil Aviation Authority in overseeing civil aviation safety and security in Cameroon.
